Player Recognition May 2nd through May 16th

Basalt Muckdogs Minor Division

Dylan Johnston for his defensive prowess in CF—he made back to back fly outs in Center Field, one that caused a double play ending the inning.

Ian Westerman for his offensive speed on the bases, and unwillingness to give up- he scored from 2nd on a throwing error.  Might have blown threw the stop sign at 3rd, but proved his coach wrong as he was safe at home.

Bobby Lizott - character award for this week was his toughness for the team.  He took a hard throw of his melon… after being properly evaluated he was good to stay in the game, and played great at 1st base for the remainder….  Great job Muckdogs, you all are a blast to coach!!!

Basalt White Sox Major/Minor Division

Saturday – 5/6/17

Grit/Perserverance – Hayes Gatlin – Hayes pitched a strong game despite having several hits against him and some unearned runs.  Having had some challenges at the plate, Hayes stepped up and had a key hit to drive in runs in the bottom of the fifth inning enabling the White Sox to take the lead.

Defense – Maverik Dombrowski – Mav pitched a very strong first game holding the opponent to just a couple of runs.  Then he played a spectacular game at first base, stretching for challenging catches to secure outs as well as snagging multiple ground balls and a massive line drive that was destined to be a sure triple to right field.

Offense – The entire White Sox team.  Down 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth, the White Sox bats woke up to rally for 7 runs off of multiple hits and key base running to secure a lead that was held in the top of the 6th to secure the victory.

Tuesday – 5/2/17

Grit – Elias Schendler pitched a great game for the White Sox holding the Glenwood Springs Twins at bay.

Offense – Max Lowsky had a breakout game at the plate with threes solid hits.

Defense – William Daniel had another fantastic game behind the plate as catcher with several throw-outs.

Sutton Dodds- Defense: Sutton performed the relay from outfield to 3rd exceptionally well and threw his opponent out at 3rd. It was perfectly executed.

Keegan Collins- Offense: Keegan didn't record a single out at the plate today. He hit the cover off the ball in both games. He also scored a number of RBI's.
